Alumni Sharing Series | Dual Professional Roles in One Day

Alumnus Mr Terence Kwok (郭俊浩) recently returned to his alma mater to conduct two career sharing sessions in a single day, drawing on his experience in two distinct professional roles. Through these sessions, he shared valuable insights into career planning, professional development, and commitment to service with junior students.

Morning Session: Wealth Management and Insurance Consultancy

In the morning session, Mr Kwok shared his journey into the wealth management and insurance industry. Motivated by personal experiences with illness and the challenges he faced when seeking insurance coverage for himself, he decided to obtain professional qualifications and enter the field. His goal was to provide clients with genuinely caring and comprehensive protection solutions, centred on their real needs.

Mr Kwok noted that the most rewarding moments in his career come from successfully assisting clients in securing rightful claims and seeing their sincere sense of relief and gratitude. Rather than relying on personal networks or aggressive sales tactics, he has built his practice through professional competence, integrity, and long-term trust.

Afternoon Session: Wedding Planning and Event Coordination

In the afternoon, Mr Kwok introduced his work as a wedding planner, sharing the diverse responsibilities involved in the role. These include programme design, coordination of event details, crisis management, and helping couples realise their ideal wedding experience. He emphasised that wedding planning requires meticulous attention, creativity, and strong communication skills.

Mr Kwok stressed that wedding planning is not merely about managing schedules, but about creating meaningful memories and contributing to one of the most significant milestones in a couple’s life.

Broadening Perspectives Through Dual Sharing

The two sessions were well received, with students listening attentively and actively engaging in reflection. Many expressed that the sharing broadened their understanding of career possibilities, realising that one individual can pursue diversified professional paths and transform personal interests into meaningful, service-oriented careers.

Through his experiences, Mr Kwok demonstrated that with clear goals, dedication, and a willingness to learn, diversified career development is both achievable and rewarding.

Conclusion

“Being driven by clients’ smiles” is not only Mr Kwok’s professional belief, but also a valuable message he conveyed to students. The school is grateful for his return and meaningful sharing, which embodied the spirit of alumni giving back and inspiring the next generation by using life experiences to illuminate future possibilities.
